I was called back to my home office in Baton Rouge for the week, so on my drive back from Houston this morning, I passed by this crash.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . There were two brothers in the car, the driver 18, the passenger 15. The driver was killed. They suspect speed was a factor and the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. If you can’t tell from the picture, the car was split in half.

Unfortunately, I saw them wheeling the victim over to the ambulance for transport.

I’m not usually the one to say this, but please be careful out there Oppo.

They said the 15-year-old was wearing his belt.

He lived.

was he on the side that got ripped off?

coz the windshield is still one piece... whatever they hit grabbed the driver before he could even consider flying through the windshield

unless ive got my sides mixed up again.... in wich case fair point... maybe it would have saved him

What’s lying in the street is the back half of the car. They hit a pole. I thought I had a link to the story, but it didn’t make it to the post. Let’s try again:

My son is nearing driving age. I can’t even read these stories. It’s going to be a frightening few years for us parents.

My daughter has been driving a little over a year now. She was rear-ended within a couple of months of getting her license. She has to navigate the interstate and in particular, the 10/12 split, every day. It doesn’t look too bad on paper, but there are two major exits, the first within a mile after I-10 and I-12 merge. She has to catch the second one, crossing three lanes of traffic and one acceleration/merge lane to do so.

Most of the parents I talk to are shocked that I let her drive through it. I feel like we all have to learn sometime! But you are right, it can be frightening. I worry more about her driving alone at night. Baton Rouge isn’t exactly a safe place.

crash like the happened last weekend here, 18yo was driving his 16yo brother to footy game another town over, lost control of his Ford Falcon ute on a straight stretch of road, plowed into a truck head on, 16yo died.

i just can’t imagine what the older brother would be going through
